The Nordic Ski and Snowshoe Center at Whiteface Club and Resort boasts the finest groomed, set track in Lake Placid plus professional instructions, ski shop and rentals (including snowshoes).Open throughout the winter, weather permitting, Wednesday to Sunday, 9am to dusk.Dates of Operation:Dec 22-March 10; Wednesday to Sunday throughout the Winter, Dailyduring Holiday Weeks. Amenities: Groomed trails. Ski Shop, and Lessons & Rentals (including Snowshoes).
The Brewster Peninsula Trails
The Brewster Peninsula Trails are located on the shores of Lake Placid and are tucked back on a dirt road, literally less than a ½ mile from our Inn. A destination for cross-country skiers, snowshoes, mountain bikers, trail runners, hikers, family picnics and fishing – you shouldn’t be surprised to see all kinds of recreationists. Young and old, novice to experienced – this is a great spot to stretch your legs. These trails are walking distance from our Inn.
A series of trail systems, with varying terrain and difficulty levels, from families to seasoned athletes, definitely a local favorite! Owned and maintained by the Uihlein Foundation, it’s a community preserve located just outside of the village of Lake Placid and excellent way to spend a few hours, no matter what time of year you’re exploring.
The Cascade Cross Country Center
The modern lodge houses a ski shop, rental facilities, restaurant, bar, and large fireplace.The center maintains 20 kilometers of groomed and wind-protected trails for skiers of all abilities. In addition, the Olympic trails at Mt. Van Hoevenberg and the Jack Rabbit trails connect with the trail system. Each winter season Cascade Cross Country Center celebrates the full moon with a party. The ski trails are lit for evening skiing under the moon light. On the trail you will find Bon-fires, beer, hot dogs, and hot chocolate. The lodge provides a cozy fireplace, food, drink, and a live band for a full evening of enjoyment.
Olympic Sports Complex Cross Country Center
50km of trails, groomed for classical and skating techniques, which wander through the forests of the Olympic Sports Complex. The center’s competition caliber trails are meticulously groomed and offer beginners and enthusiasts an enjoyable experience.
